Understand Contest reporting
Read participant, gallery, submission, and voting activity for your contest.
Open your report
- Open your contest and select Reporting.
- Choose the date range beside the chart. Dates use the promotion’s time zone.
- Select a metric above the chart to see its trend. Use Refresh reporting data after new entries, moderation, or voting activity.
Read entry and gallery activity separately
Someone can visit the gallery and vote without submitting their own contest entry. That is why Gallery Views, Votes, and Participants should not be expected to match.
Understand approval and voting dates
The Valid Submissions trend places submissions on their approval date, which can differ from the date someone entered. An entry submitted on Monday and approved on Wednesday can therefore affect the participant and submission trends on different days.
Votes waiting for verification or otherwise not counted do not contribute to the counted vote trend. Invalidating a vote or changing a submission’s eligibility can change results for earlier activity. Use the contest’s Votes and moderation screens to investigate individual records; the report summarizes activity.
For verification behavior, see Configure public contest voting and verification. For the public gallery itself, see Publish and embed the contest gallery.
Use the other reporting sections
Traffic, campaign, technology, and geographic breakdowns help explain how participants reach your promotion. Abandoned Submissions, when shown, concerns incomplete entry forms; it is not a count of people who viewed the gallery without voting.
Export the right data
Open Download reporting data → Download Report for the daily reporting breakdown, including contest activity. To examine individual votes instead, follow Export contest votes.
A reporting CSV summarizes activity, while a vote export contains vote records. Compare the same dates and counted/eligible status before comparing totals. Recent gallery and entry activity can take time to appear.
