Add an age gate to a promotion
Ask participants to confirm their birth date before they can reach the main form.
Add an Age Gate
Use Age Gate to stop someone below a configured age from continuing to the main form.
- Open the promotion builder and select Form.
- Under Form Fields, add Age Gate.
- Customize the heading and supporting instructions.
- Select the displayed date format.
- Enter the minimum age and customize the date labels and Continue button.
- Under Validation, write the message shown when the participant does not meet the requirement.
The Age Gate appears before the ordinary form fields. It is an access step rather than a normal response field in the form.
Age Gate versus Birthday
Use Age Gate when age determines whether someone may continue. Use Birthday when you need to collect and store a participant's birth date as part of their submitted information. Birthday also supports minimum-age validation, but it remains part of the main form.
An Age Gate supports the date formats MM/DD/YYYY, DD/MM/YYYY, and YYYY/MM/DD.
Test the restriction
Before publishing, test a date below the minimum age, a date exactly at the age boundary, and an eligible date. Confirm that the copy matches your official rules and that the selected date format is clear to your audience.
An age gate supports your participation flow but does not replace accurate eligibility terms, official rules, or any verification your promotion legally requires.
