Understand Instant Win reporting

Understand participants, plays, winners, bonus plays, and your observed win rate.

Open your report

  1. Open your Instant Win promotion and select Reporting.
  2. Choose the date range beside the chart. Dates use the promotion’s time zone.
  3. Select a metric above the chart to inspect its trend. Use Refresh reporting data after new activity.

Separate participants from plays

What you seeWhat it means
ParticipantsSubmitted participant records counted in reporting, rather than the number of times they played.
Page ViewsMeasured promotion visits, with duplicate visits filtered; not necessarily unique people.
Conversion RateParticipants divided by Page Views for the selected period. It measures entry conversion, not the chance of winning.
Total PlaysCompleted Instant Win plays with a winning or non-winning result, including completed bonus plays.
WinnersInstant Win prize awards that are still counted as awarded. This is an award count, not a count of completed prize deliveries or necessarily distinct people.
Win RateCounted Winners divided by Total Plays, expressed as a percentage. This describes the results recorded in your report.
Bonus PlaysCompleted extra plays from post-entry social actions. These are already included in Total Plays. Unused play opportunities do not count as completed plays.
Social ActionsRecorded action completions, which are separate from the plays themselves.
ReferralsParticipant entries attributed to referral links, rather than the number of plays or prizes.

For example, one participant’s first play plus two completed bonus plays produces 3 Total Plays and 2 Bonus Plays. Do not add Bonus Plays to Total Plays again. If one counted prize was awarded across those plays, the reported Win Rate is 33.3%.

Compare acquisition and game activity

Use the traffic, campaign, technology, and geographic breakdowns to understand participation. The play metrics answer a different question: what happened after people entered and played.

Abandoned Submissions, when shown, concerns the entry form. It does not mean a participant played and lost. Contactable abandoned records have an email or phone number; anonymous attempts and recovered submissions can make reporting totals larger than the abandoned list in Participants.

Export plays or inspect winners

Open Download reporting data. Download Report provides the daily reporting breakdown. Download Instant Win Plays provides play-level results when your role has the required export permission.

Use Winners to inspect individual awards and manage winners. A prize award appearing in reporting does not mean the prize has been delivered. For more about downloading and comparing files, see Export promotion reporting data.

Compare the same date range and time zone. Removing an award can change Winners and Win Rate while a completed play remains part of play history. Recent activity can also take time to appear.
