Understand the promotion builder
Find the right controls for your promotion type and understand how edits and previews work.
Choose the right builder tab
Open a promotion from Promotions using Edit. The builder shows the controls available for that promotion type.
Differences by promotion type
- Sweepstakes / Giveaway includes draw prizes, Official Rules, and a leaderboard.
- Contest includes media submissions and gallery voting. Its gallery replaces the sweepstakes leaderboard.
- Form collects information without draw prizes, Official Rules, a leaderboard, or a Winners dashboard section. Social Actions and Flows are available.
- Instant Win adds prize allocation and game controls under Settings. It supports gallery-free result experiences, including Spin the Wheel, Scratch Off, Spin the Bottle, and Mystery Box. Payment fields and the sweepstakes leaderboard are unavailable.
- Purchase Sweepstakes starts with Settings and the Shopify product panel. Its last tab is Install, and it does not expose the standard Integrations tab or promotion Flows. Storefront forms and bonus actions have their own enablement choices.
Language variants expose fewer tabs and controls than the original promotion. Change structure in the default language, then review the translated text. Winner claim forms use a separate builder opened from Winners.
Save and test changes
Most field edits save automatically. Wait for saving to finish before navigating away. Use the preview to check content and layout, including mobile and product-specific result states. Previewing a winner or submitting a test entry does not establish that live prize allocation, payment, or delivery is working.
Finish with a test on the actual public placement using a test promotion. A website embed or Shopify extension still needs to be installed and published on its host site.
Find help while you work
Select a question-mark icon beside a field or section to open its guide. Select the same icon again to close the guide, or another visible icon to switch topics. The public article opens in a new tab if Messenger is unavailable. From the user menu, Docs and Support open the Help Center.
