Connect Klaviyo

Connect Klaviyo to a Revup promotion, select a list, map fields, and confirm participants reach Klaviyo.

Before you start

  • Sign in to the Klaviyo account that should receive participants, and make sure it has the list you want to use.
  • Allow pop-ups for Revup in your browser. Klaviyo authorization opens in a pop-up window.
  • Purchase Sweepstakes promotions do not have an Integrations tab, so you cannot connect Klaviyo to them.

Connect Klaviyo to a Revup promotion

  1. Open the promotion builder, go to Integrations, and select + Add Integration.
  2. Choose Klaviyo. If your Revup account already has Klaviyo connected, follow Use Klaviyo in your next promotion below instead.

  1. Under Form Field Mapping, choose a Klaviyo profile field for each form field you want to send. Fields with a lock icon are mapped automatically. Choose Do not sync this field for anything you do not want to send, and open System Fields to send Revup system values.

  1. Select Save. The Klaviyo card shows Active with the connected account and list.

  1. After the promotion starts, enter once through its public link with your own email address. Then confirm in Klaviyo that the profile was created and added to the list.

Entries you submit from the builder preview are test entries. Revup never sends test entries to Klaviyo or any other integration, so use a real entry to check the connection.

Use Klaviyo in your next promotion

You only authorize Klaviyo once. It stays connected to your Revup account, so every promotion you create can use it.

  1. In the promotion builder, go to Integrations and select + Add Integration.
  2. Under Your Connected Accounts, select + Add next to Klaviyo.
  3. Configure Klaviyo opens right away. Choose the list and field mapping for this promotion, then select Save.

Each promotion keeps its own list and field mapping. To review every connected account in one place, select Manage in the Integrations panel or go to Account β†’ Integrations.

What Revup sends to Klaviyo

Revup creates or updates the participant's Klaviyo profile with the form fields you mapped. It also sends these Revup system fields as custom profile properties. They are on by default; open System Fields in Configure Klaviyo to rename a property or choose Do not sync this field.

Revup fieldKlaviyo propertyWhat it contains
Promotion IDpromotion_idEvery Revup promotion the participant entered, separated by commas, for example 2715, 2736
Referral Linkreferral_linkThe participant's personal share link for their latest promotion
Auto Login Linkauto_login_linkA private link that brings the participant back to their entry without filling out the form again
Tracking Campaigntracking_campaignThe name of the tracking link the participant arrived through, if any
Entry Source URLentry_source_urlThe page where the participant entered
Referring Source URLreferring_source_urlThe page that sent the participant to your promotion
Device Typedevice_typeThe type of device used to enter
IP Addressip_addressThe IP address used to enter

If the participant is already in Klaviyo, Revup updates their existing profile instead of creating a new one. Promotion ID keeps every promotion they entered. Every other property holds the value from their most recent entry.

Connecting Klaviyo does not create consent. Revup subscribes a participant to email marketing unless your form has an Email Consent field they left unchecked. Revup subscribes a phone number to SMS marketing only when your form has an SMS Consent field and the participant checks it.

Double opt-in lists

If the selected Klaviyo list uses double opt-in, Klaviyo sends each new subscriber a confirmation email. The profile appears in Klaviyo right away, but the participant joins the list only after they confirm. To add participants to the list without a confirmation email, change the list's opt-in process to single opt-in in Klaviyo's list settings.

Segment Klaviyo profiles by promotion

Use the promotion_id property to build a Klaviyo segment for everyone who entered a specific promotion.

  1. In Klaviyo, open any participant's profile and note the promotion_id value for your promotion.
  2. Create a segment with the condition Properties about someone: promotion_id contains your promotion ID.
  3. Use the segment to target follow-up campaigns, or use the same condition to filter a flow.

Because a participant who enters several promotions has several IDs in promotion_id, use contains rather than equals.

Add a participant's personal share link to any Klaviyo email or flow with this template tag:

{{ person|lookup:'referral_link' }}

When your promotion has a Share with friends bonus action, friends who enter through this link count toward the participant's bonus entries. The link always points to the participant's most recent promotion, so send referral emails while that promotion is running.

Use the auto-login link to bring participants back for daily entries or bonus actions without making them fill out the form again:

{{ person|lookup:'auto_login_link' }}

This link is private to each participant. Use it only in one-to-one emails and flows, never in public posts or shared pages.

Disconnect Klaviyo

  • Stop syncing one promotion: In that promotion's Integrations panel, select the trash icon on the Klaviyo card. The Klaviyo account stays connected for your other promotions.
  • Disconnect the account everywhere: Go to Account β†’ Integrations. Under Connected Integrations, open the actions menu on the Klaviyo row and select Disconnect. If promotions use the account, confirm with Yes, disconnect from all; Revup removes Klaviyo from those promotions.

Disconnecting stops future syncs. It does not remove profiles or list members already sent to Klaviyo. To also revoke Revup's access on the Klaviyo side, remove the Revup app from your Klaviyo account's integrations.

Troubleshooting

If a participant does not appear in Klaviyo or on your list, check these in order:

  • Test entry: Entries from the builder preview are test entries and are never sent.
  • Double opt-in: On a double opt-in list, the participant joins only after confirming Klaviyo's email. Their profile still appears right away.
  • Existing profile: If the email was already in Klaviyo, Revup updated that profile instead of creating a new one. Search Klaviyo by email address.
  • Klaviyo delay: New profiles and list members can take a few minutes to appear in Klaviyo.
  • Connection: Check that the Klaviyo card shows Active, the selected list still exists, the email address is valid, and each mapped Klaviyo field accepts the submitted value. Correct the cause before retrying the participant delivery.
